THE DOORS "THE PSYCHEDELIC REMIXES"
From their beginnings during the summer of 1965 at Venice Beach, California, The Doors were truly aband, a remarkable fusion of creative energies, a lot of attention has been focused on Jim Morrison which his looks and talents clearly justify. However, Jim was well aware that the magic of The Doors could never havehappened without the fortunate forging of John Densmore, Robby Krieger, Ray Manzarek and Jim Morrison into a single creative whole. It is no mystery why Jim Morrison never went solo; so sympathetic were the three other musicians to Jim's mission that such a consideration was out of the question. Robby Krieger, or example, was able to write lyrics and music that sounded more like Morrison than Morrison himself-- among them "Light My Fire," "Love Me Two Times,"and "Love Her Madly." Without Krieger, Manzarek and Densmore there is a strong chance that Jim's songs would never have made it off the page, into rehearsal, onto the stage, into the recording studio and, in defiance of all odds, to successive g
enerations who have since discovered The Doors as a "new" group.
Ray Manzarek, a classically trained pianist, raised in Chicago with a deep love for the blues, wrote the themes for many of the songs and played not only the keyboard parts but simultaneously (with his left hand) propelled the band with melodic driving bass lines. John Densmore, a jazz drummer with an unbeatable knack for shamanic rhythm and theatrical timing... the band's tireless engine. Robby Krieger, a songwriting secret weapon who could play any guitar, from classic flamenco to bottle-neck blues, to creating styles and sounds previously unheard on this planet. And Jim Morrison, the baritone, eclectic/electric poet with an innate compositional gift and the soul of a mystic. Together these men brought The Doors' songs to life, they were equal points of a musical diamond.
The band took its name from the poet-visionary-artist William Blake, who had written, "When the doors of perception are cleansed, things will appear to man as they truly are...infinite." English author Aldous Huxley was sufficiently inspired by Blake's quote to title his book on mescaline experiences The Doors of Perception. Morrison was so connected to both works that he proposed, The Doors, to his bandmates. Everyone agreed that the name, as well as the inspiration from which it sprang, was perfect to convey who they were and clearly representive for what they stood for. The group was signed to Elektra Records, then a small folk-music record company, in July of 1966 by Jac Holzman, Elektra's founder.
By April 1971, The Doors had recorded six landmark studio LP's and a two -record set of live performances, the first seven discs with producer Paul A. Rothchild and the last one co-produced by The Doors and their career-long engineer Bruce Botnick... both The Doors and Elektra had grown into world famed institutions. The band's unstated goal was to accomplish musical alchemy, to fuse rock music with both existential poetry and improvisational theater. Jim was greatly influenced by the nineteenth century poet Arthur Rimbaud and he dutifully imparted Rimbaud's philosophy to the group. Rimbaud advocated a systematic "rational derangement of all the senses in order to achieve the unknown."
Morrison was a man who would not, could not, and did not know how to compromise himself or his art. He was driven to go all the way or die trying, the ultimate ecstatic risk taker. Manzarek, Krieger and Densmore's contribution to this state of creative ecstasy cannot be underestimated. In order for the musical spell to be successfully cast they gave willingly and generously, the power of improvisation that drove Morrison onstage required the other three Doors to not merely play arrangements but to follow Jim's unplanned creative arc perfectly in one of the music's classic and most difficult feats, the art of intuitive accompaniment. Statement to the press, "For me, it was never really an act, those so-called performances.
It was a life-and-death thing, an attempt to communicate, to involve many people in a private world of thought." During the late 1960's bands sang of love and peace while acid was passed out. But for The Doors it was different. The nights belonged to Pan and Dionysus, the gods of revelry and rebirth, and the songs invoked their potent passions, the Oedipal nightmare of "The End," the breathless gallop of "Not to Touch the Earth," the doom of "Hyacinth House," the ecstasy of "Light My Fire," the dark uneasy undertones of "Can't See Your Face in My Mind," and the alluring loss of Consciousness in "Crystal Ship." And as with Dionysus, The Doors willingly offered themselves as a sacrifice to be torn apart, to bleed, to die, to be reborn for yet another night in another town. To be a poet meant more to Morrison than writing poems. It meant embracing the tragedy fate has chosen for you and fulfilling that destiny with gusto and nobility.
In the end, after conquering America, after being shackled by the courts and laws of the land that he loved, he escaped to Paris, traditional home of so many expatriate artists, to pursue his life as a poet. But his body was too worn down, his heart too weak; he had already seen and done and drunk too much. He had lived life on his own terms, had reaped the rewards, and now the bill was due. His spirit was tired. Death was simply closer and easier than returning to America, to the endless succession of stages it demanded. Jim Morrison passed away in Paris on July 3, 1971. His dying wish was to be remembered as a poet.
Pamela Morrison used to tell a story from the very earliest day of The Doors. They were playing their first club, The London Fog. It was their last set of the night and there were only three people in the club, two drunks and Pamela. The band was incandescent. Jim raged and exploded with super-human passion, a transcendent performance. Pam was stunned. In the car she could say nothing...long after arriving home she was still speechless. Jim asked, "What's wrong baby?" Pam said, "There were three people in the club during the last set. But you burned like you were performing for thousands of people. Why did you go so far, risk so much for a tiny audience that was barely aware of your presence?" Jim looked at her and said slowly, "You never know when you're doing your last set." Considering the force of energy generated by The Doors over 25 years ago, that "last set" could well be several generations away.

FRANCESCO DIAZ
House evangelist Francesco Diaz holds a respected position among the house community. After more than 15 years splitting his time between the confines of studio environments and global dance floors, the German dj/producer is something of a veteran to the scene. Perhaps most noted for the successes in his back catalogue which include releases like ‘Don’t You Want Me’ and ‘Ibiza’, Diaz has also picked up acclaimed support from the likes of Radio 1 Pete Tong, Judge Jules and Roger Sanchez for his remix work on tracks like John Dahlback’s ‘Everywhere’ and Dada Life´s ‘Cookies With A Smile’.
In recent times Diaz has scaled download charts with massive dance floor monsters like ‘Morphine’, ‘Crash’, ‘1998’, ‘Into The Night’ and ‘Perfect Moment’. Whilst squeezing time into to compile and mix Ministry of Sounds 2009 edition of ‘Clubbers Guide to Ibiza’, an honour he shared with Swedish anthem machine John Dahlback.
After earning his badges working as label boss for several labels, Diaz stepped out from the shadows to release his own music. His debut single ‘Say a little Prayer’, which featured the sharp vocals of Karl Frierson, came out on Muschitunes in 2005 and became an instant hit. In the same year Diaz released his second single ‘Time to Turn Around’, which landed him high praise and further saw the record spend 4 weeks at the top of Scandinavian Dance Charts and led to his friendship with both Axwell and Steve Angello at Joia Records.
The later years provided to be something of a rising point for the Hamburg artists has he continued to put out even more good music. From his numerous remix projects for standout artists such as Eddie Thoneick, DJ Chus meets Pete Tha Zouk and AnnaGrace through to his collaboration work with the likes of Thomas Gold, John Dahlback, Dada Life, Denis the Menace, Eddie Thoneick, Jerry Ropero and Young Rebels, the popularity of Diaz’s music soared.
Today the sound of Diaz stands celebrated in all its glory, unique in its design and infused with measurable shades of elements from progressive, electro and house music genres. It is these handcrafted sounds which are full of sonic grooves, shakin’ bass rhythms and all drenched in trademark melodic drifters that have established Diaz a legion of fans ranging from Tiësto and D.O.N.S. to Axwell and Sebastian Ingrosso.
Raved by dance media such as Raveline and DJ Magazine, whilst having powered up numerous European charts over the years, it is no surprise then to find his music on imprints around the globe in Ministry of Sound, Joia Records, , Vendetta Records, Time Records, Blanco Y Negro, Pickadoll and Kontor Records
Away from the studio Francesco’s music has elevated him to astounding heights and led to him extensively touring countries such as Sweden, Norway, Switzerland, Ibiza, Germany, Austria, Poland, Russia, Ukraine and Columbia.
Today Diaz finds himself at the helm of Wormland’s music division, an offshoot project from the famous German fashion label. His eclectic taste for all things considered “true dance music” has led to him creating three labels under the Wormland brand; Wormland Gold, Wormland White and Wormland Black with each division representing the varying styles in electronic music.
Additionally 2010 has seen Diaz begin work on his debut artist album Francesco Diaz & Young Rebels ‘Mission Complete’. Scheduled to be released through Wormland music the exciting project will see a collection of new material from the German artists and feature a string of collaborations with artists who have influenced Diaz over the years. Also as part of the 85th anniversary of legendary Greek composer and cultural icon Mikis Theodorakis, Diaz was given the esteemed honour by Mikis himself to reproduce some of his most famous compositions and craft them into a modern soundscape fitting for a new generation. A much-loved national institution famed for such hits as ‘Zorba’ and ‘Honeymoon Song’, as well as his scores in the films ‘Zorba the Greek’ and ‘Serpico’ staring Academy Award winning actor Al ‘Pacino.

GUS GUS
Gusgus are: Birgir Thorarinsson aka Biggi Veira, Daniel Agust Haraldsson and Stephan Stephensen aka President Bongo.
Gus-gus formed in 1995. A short brake in a making of the shortcut made it possible for the first Gus-gus self-titled album to be born. In 1996 the band signed to 4AD Records that released their widely acclaimed second album “Polydistortion”. "This Is Normal" followed in 1999 and finally” Gus-gus vs T-World" appeared in 2000. During the 4AD years, Gus-gus started touring massively, stirring the music world with their powerful live-show. The touring life was stressful for the nine some and eventually called for changes within the line up. Six original members left and the three remaining producers (Veiran, President Bongo and Herb Legowitz) soon found hope in a new female singer, Earth aka Urður Hákonardóttir.
In 2002 Gus-gus re-appeared with their 4th studio album "Attention" which includes their most successful dance floor hit “David”. On the album the band teamed up with the legendary producer Gareth Jones and Finnish multi-instrumentalist Jimi Tenor. The album demonstrates a sharply focused club-band full of creativity and even more energetic than ever. Daníel Ágúst sings on one song but is on break from the band as he’s working on his solo career. His first solo album, “Swallowed a Star” was released by One Little Indian in 2006 and includes the future hit of Gus-gus, “Moss”. From 2004-2006 Gus-gus take a break from touring but continues working on the fifth studio album, Forever. GusGus keep on maintaining their massive following as DJs.
Forever is released on Pineapple Records in February 26th, 2007, followed by massive touring and the band appears on major festivals like Glastonbury, Split, Creamfields and Benecassim.
Their sixth album, 24/7, was released on Kompakt in September 14th. The album features the future line-up of Gus-gus and brings Daníel Ágúst back as a full member of Gus-gus.

CLASSIXX
Classixx is an American production and DJ duo, based in Los Angeles, composed of Michael David and Tyler Blake. They were previously known as Young Americans.
Tyler Blake and Michael David, childhood friends, started a DJ duo in the suburbs of Los Angeles. The name Classixx came from their liking of Classic Compilations of different music. The DJ duo is influenced by a plethora of music, ranging from old school R&B to Paul Simon to Kraftwerk.
David spent the first half of the 2000's releasing his own music and touring in a band as a guitar player while Blake attended the Berklee School of Music. In 2005, David left his previous band and Blake dropped out of music school. Soon after, Classixx was formed. In their early twenties, Classixx began to define a new sound for the Los Angeles electronic music scene A change from the banger-driven Electro that had been dominating dance floors, their smooth blend of disco, new wave, funk, house, and indie rock caught the ears of music aficionados, fans and artists alike. Recent remixes for groundbreaking and diverse artists include Phoenix, Mayer Hawthorne, Holy Ghost, Ladyhawke, Fischerspooner, Groove Armada, Yacht,[12] Beni, Drop the Limeand Major Lazer. According to Chicagoist, Classixx "became staples in DJ sets all over the world".
Pitchfork Media wrote that the duo gave Phoenix's "Lisztomania" "a gorgeously pillowy synth-disco framework". The Los Angeles Times called it "pure disco cotton candy".
Following the release of their debut hit single, “I’ll Get You” featuring Jeppe (Junior Senior), in the summer of 2009 on Paris based Kitsune Records, Classixx is now prepping their debut album for release this winter.

KEATCH
The chef of ‘The Keatchen’ is a 23 year old Belgian guy. He’s in love with analogue synths, has a passion for nasty electronical music and goes by the name of Keatch (derived from the word “kitsch”, as he likes to describe his own music)
For some time he used to spin the records of other artists until the famous Reason software hit the market. As a youngster, Keatch, found the perfect workspace to make (or prepare) his own music like a great chef prepares his meals: with a lot of hard work and undeniable contribution. About 6 months ago, after touching and exploring almost every style you can think of, this upcoming Belgian talent concentrated himself on the harder variations of electro. By listening to the big names making the scene (Boys Noize, D.I.M, Proxy and the Ed Banger Crew), he synthesized everything he liked into a refreshing recipe of destructing synths, vocalshots and a sample cutting, served with some groovy and pounding beats and a spicy 80’s based melodic sauce.

ROYKSOPP "THE REMIXES"
Röyksopp is an electronic music duo formed in 1998 in Tromsø, Norway and currently based in Bergen, Norway. The band consists of Torbjørn Brundtland and Svein Berge, both being songwriters, producers and remixers. They usually rely on the use of other vocalists for their songs and occasionally they perform the vocal parts. The Norwegian word “røyksopp” means puffball fungus (literally “smoke mushroom”).
Brundtland and Berge were schoolmates in their hometown Tromsø, experimenting with electronic instruments in the early 90s and being a part of their city’s techno scene. As they grew up in northern Norway, they listened to local artists like Bel Canto and Biosphere. The band has also expressed their interest in the music of Kraftwerk, Brian Eno, Giorgio Moroder, Art of Noise, Vangelis, Erik Satie, and Francis Lai. They were members of various electro acts in their youth, such as Alanïa, Drum Island and Aedena Cycle. After recording as part of Aedena Cycle, Berge and Brundtland left the group to form their own band, Röyksopp.
In 8 October 2001, Röyksopp released their debut album Melody A.M. on Wall Of Sound label. This critically acclaimed downtempo album reached #1 in Norway charts, #9 in UK Albums Chart, #18 in US Top Electronic Albums. Melody A.M. spawned five singles: “So Easy” (released in 1999, re-released in 2002), “Eple” (released in July 2001, re-released in 24 February 2003; #16 UK), “Poor Leno”, featuring Erlend Øye (released in 3 December 2001, re-released on 18 November 2002; #38 UK), “Remind Me”, featuring Erlend Øye (5 August 2002; #21 UK), and “Sparks”, featuring Anneli Drecker (2003; #41 UK).
The band became famous for their original music videos (the infographic-styled video by French company H5 for the track “Remind Me”, won the 2002 MTV Europe Music Award for best music video). The single “Eple” (meaning “apple”) was used by Apple Inc. as the music for the startup video for Mac OS X 10.3.
In 4 July 2005, the band issued their sophomore album The Understanding on Wall of Sound. The album was preceded by the hit single “Only This Moment”, featuring Kate Havnevik (27 June 2005; #33 UK). Another four singles followed: “49 Percent” (26 September 2005; #55 UK), “Curves” (non-album single; 3 October 2005), “What Else Is There?”, featuring Karin Dreijer of The Knife (5 December 2005; #4 Norway, #32 UK) and “Beautiful Day Without You” (26 June 2006).
Röyksopp’s Night Out EP was released in 27 February 2006 and it contains live recordings from a concert in Norway, Rockefeller (Oslo) in November 2005. The album contains a new dance version of their single “Sparks” and a reinterpretation of the song “Go With The Flow”, originally by Queens Of The Stone Age. In 5 March 2007, the group issued Back to Mine: Röyksopp, a compilation album from the Back to Mine series, compiled and mixed by the band.
On 23 March 2009, Röyksopp released their third album Junior on Wall of Sound. Röyksopp have invited several guest artists, like Robyn, Anneli Drecker, Karin Dreijer, Lykke Li, to perform on various songs from Junior. The first single “Happy Up Here” was released on 19 January 2009 (digital)/16 March 2009 (vinyl) and peaked on #3 in Norway and on #44 in UK. Another two singles supported the album’ sales: “The Girl And The Robot”, featuring Robyn (15 June 2009; #2 Norway) and “This Must Be It”, featuring Karin Dreijer (2 November 2009).
Since 2010, the band started posting on their official site new exclusive songs available for free download (usually a song every month), known as Röyksopp.com Track Of The Month.
In 13 September 2010, Röyksopp released the fourth album Senior, the atmospheric counterpart of Junior. The first single from the album, “The Drug”, was released on 9 August 2010.
