Alex Gopher is a major musician, producer and DJ of the international electronic scene.
As a key player of the French Touch, he has worked on his own productions, the albums
“You, My Baby and I” and “Wuz”, the 12” “The Child” and “Party People” and the releases
of the record label Solid that he co-founded with Etienne de Crécy. He also contributes to
Etienne de Crécy’s Superdiscount projects 1 and 2.
As a versatile musician and producer, Alex released in 2007 a pop album on which he
sings entitled “Alex Gopher”. He also released a series of powerful electro 12” on record
labels such as Kitsuné, BTK, Different and his own label. He is an internationally
acclaimed and much sought after DJ.
Fascinated by the technical tool and eager to discover and develop new sounds, Alex
Gopher is introduced to techno music by technology. Alex Gopher is everywhere. He
releases his own 12” singles, “Est-ce une Gopher Party, Baby?” in 1996 and “Gordini Mix”
in 1997. He co-directs the Solid record label and its sub-division of 12” Poumtchack. He
masters albums at the Translab studio and also becomes a wanted producer for his
remixes. Year after year, he ends up working on tracks by Kraftwerk, Jamiroquai,
Tocadisco, Vanessa Paradis, Mr Oizo, IAM, Fischerspooner, Zazie, Erik Truffaz, Bootsy
Collins, Benny Benassi, Ladyhawke, WhoMadeWho, AutoKratz, Nightmares On Wax, Sly &
Robbie, Bob Sinclar, Roy Davis Jr, Dada Life, etc.
Alex’s life has always been surrounded by music.
The last of seven children, he discovered the rock,
pop and disco discs his older brothers were
listening to. When he turns 4, he receives a small
record player as a present on which he spins his
first 45” single “You Got The Power” by the funk band War. His three big brothers even
made a discomobile, a portable DJ set up, to play at parties and weddings around the
city of Versailles. His big leap into music is when he discovers the New Wave genre and
bands like The Cure, The Jam (his first LP), the Stranglers, Joy Division and New Order.
