MARCOS BAIANO

Lorenzo was born on August 2nd 1986, in Salvador do Bahia (Brazil), where he got his nickname Marcos. At the age of 9, he started private lessons in piano and sax. A few years later he cuts his first EP. sticked to the minimal tech-house genre, on Net’s Work & Song. In 2008 he had 3 releases out on Area 94 influenced mostly by tech-house genre. Beyond his work as a producer, Marcos began DJing at clubs and festival like New Year Eve at Fortezza da Basso in Florence, where he shared the decks with DJs like Chris Liebing, Brian Snaji... “Abandoning” his techno past, he dedicated himself to the rhythms his brazilian roots, like funky, latin-soul and blues. Through the research of particular sounds he tries to com- municate emotions and feelings of his native country. New experiences, new ambients, new musical inputs and his own vast musical panorama led Marcos to find his own style: deep melodies, minimal groove, progressive textures, hou- se beats and funky vocals. The year 2010 was marked by a significant new partnership with the promising young Florentine factory Labella Recordings: a breeding ground of new talent to watch! With passion and conviction Labella produces Marcos Baiano “Musica & Felicidade 01”: 11 ex- plosive tracks also available in the special remix edition. A release which sees in the role of interpreters of the sound of Marcos, some national and international artists such as Su- pernova, Alessandro Sensini (Cecìlle), Enzo Elia (Hell Yeah!, Young Odds, Be As One), and many others. In addition to the album Labella released a limited edition vinyl which was sold out in many stores like Decks and Juno. This is a signi- ficative release for Marcos, the track “Moka Moka” climbed up to the 11th position the “Beatport House Chart” on July 2011; supported by top DJs as Javi Munoz and David Mo- reno airplayed on Ibiza Glabe Radio. The great success was followed by another charted track, “Green Lights” taken from the next Marco’s EP, “Musica & Felicade 2”, which ended up to the 17th place on Decembre 2010 Beatport House Chart. During January 2011 he moved to London to discover new musical horizons and collaborations.
